FAMILY POOL PARTY
Join us for an evening at the pool just for Thorson families – connect with old friends, make new ones, and see how you can get more involved with the PTO!
A week-long event where students have an opportunity to purchase books. Families also can purchase books for students and staff.
Organize order and distribution of Jaguar Spiritwear twice a year.
TEACHER GIVING TREE
Collect “wishes” from teachers to make available for parent purchase throughout the year, create display for wishes, and maintain its google sheet.
READ ACROSS AMERICA
Join millions of students across the nation to encourage the joy of reading.
Games, prizes, face painting, silent auction, raffles, classroom baskets and much more. Fun for the entire family.
Do you sing? Dance? Ride the unicycle? Come show off your talents and see some of the Thorson teachers’/staffs’ special talents too!
MOTHER-SPECIAL PERSON/SON NIGHT
An evening for sons to bowl with someone special. Bring your mom, grandma, or a special friend for a laid-back evening.
GIRLS’ FANCY DANCE
This dress-up dance is a time for daughters to spend with someone special. Bring your dad, uncle, grandpa or a special friend.
TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK
A week-long celebration for teachers, staff, and all they do for our kiddos. Students have a chance to bring flowers, dress-up, bring in supplies to show their appreciation
Creativity, team work, problem solving. This is STREAM learning at it’s very best.
PTO BULLETIN BOARD
Update PTO bulletin board on a monthly basis with current events and volunteer opportunities.
Update PTO website with information regarding events, forms and activities.
Updated PTO Facebook page regarding events, how to get involved with PTO, and general information about the PTO.
Prepare, assemble and distribute student directory.
FAMILY PORTRAIT FUNDRAISER
Work with local photographer to provide opportunity for outdoor photos of two groups -e.g. siblings & family.
Organize on-line sign up, obtain and monitor supplies, and answer questions about sign up for Celebration Rock.
Free build. All are welcome.
DINING FOR DOLLARS
Take a break from the kitchen and eat out at various restaurants throughout the year. A percent of sales is generously donated back to PTO.
Families can collect box tops from commonly used household goods. Tops are then redeemed for cash to support PTO events.
Help keep classrooms running smoothly by organizing classroom parties, finding room volunteers, organizing classroom gifts, and facilitating School Carnival classroom project. Partnering with another parent is a very fun way to participate in this role.
Plan special events for teachers and staff and families such as: (1) holiday treats for teachers/staff, (2) cookies/coffee for parents during conferences, and (3) back-to-school breakfast for teachers/staff.
Thorson’s yearbook is a great keepsake of all those special memories throughout the year.
PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCE MEALS
Help organize meals for teachers/staff during parent-teacher conferences.
WRITING AND DRAWING CLUB
Do you love to make up your own stories? Write plays or poems? Just journal your thoughts? Draw graphic novels? Join us at Creative Writing Club.
NEW FAMILY WELCOME
Creating community matters. Join this group and be matched with a new family to our school. Independently, set up a play date so the new family can create some new friends and connections during their transition.
This committee focuses on supporting our larger community. From used school supply collection to Family Sharing food drives, we strive to teach that it is important to help others.
FAREWELL TO 5th GRADE
Help send our 5th graders off to Middle School with a special farewell!
Help keep Thorson’s gardens looking their best. Front garden needs 1 spring, 1 fall clean-up, and 3-4 weeding sessions in summer. Get some exercise and keep the gardens looking their best!

Oversee teacher grant process by providing forms, answering questions, organizing forms, and communicating disposition of requests.
